How do I change my default setting to auto-increment the asset number?
You might change your default setting to auto-increment the asset number to automatically assign the next available asset number when creating new assets. This helps maintain consistent numbering, reduces manual data entry, and prevents duplicate or skipped asset numbers. Auto-incrementing also improves efficiency when entering large numbers of assets.
Setting up my default options to assign the next available asset number
1. Open Connect Asset Management > Assets
> Manage Pending Assets.
2. Click Options (F12).
3. Click to select the Auto-increment Override
checkbox, and then set up the following options.
- Beginning range: Enter the first asset number in the asset numbers
that are available to assign to pending assets.
- Ending range: Enter the last asset number in the range.
- Increment by: Enter the number of empty assets records to
leave between the assigned asset numbers.
4. Click OK.
The Asset box will use the auto-increment
settings to display the next available asset number.
