How do allocations work? (Enter Budget Worksheet Amounts)

Select the allocation type to use on the budget worksheet. The allocation type is how the amount that you enter is allocated to the periods that are included in the budget worksheet.


Why can't I select an allocation mode? This option is only available when you're entering amounts for multiple periods.

Duplicate amounts

Use Duplicate to copy the budget amount entered in the period that you're working on and paste it as the budget amount for the same GL account in each of the selected periods.

Click on the Amount column and enter an amount.

Connect copies the amount to multiple periods.

Period 1 Amount = 1000.00

Period 2 Amount = 1000.00

Period 3 Amount = 1000.00

Period 4 Amount = 1000.00

Manual amounts

Use Manual to allow a user to enter budget amounts for each of the selected periods.

Amount = Period 1 + Period 2 + Period 3 + Period 4...

 

In Manual Amounts, the Amount column is disabled. Click on a period to enter the amount for the selected period.

Then, click on the next period to enter the next amount. You can enter a different amount for each period.

The Amount column totals the period amounts.

7000 = 1000 + 1500 + 2000 + 2500

Split amounts

Use Split to enter a budget amount that Connect will divide between the selected periods and round to the nearest whole dollar. If the budget amount does not divide evenly, the last period will receive the remaining amount.

...Connect divides the amount by the number of periods on the worksheet and then enters the divided amount as the period amount.

250.00 (Period Amount) = 1000 (Amount) / 4 (Number of Periods)

If the amount does not divide evenly, the remaining amount is added to the last period.

250.0325 = 1000.00 (Amount) / 4 (Number of Periods)

Period 1 - 3 Amount = 250.00

Period 4 Amount = 250.00 = 250.13 + 0.25 x 4 (Number of Periods)
