How do I change an hourly rate?

Update the amount an employee makes per hour. The hourly rate is linked to the position that is assigned to the employee. You can change the hourly rate by changing the pay schedule, pay grade, or pay step. You can also change the hourly rate by updating the position properties.


Changing an hourly rate by changing the pay schedule, pay grade, or pay step

1. Open Connect Payroll > Employees > Modify Existing Employees.

2. Use the Employee field to enter an employee name or number. Press Enter.

3. Click to select the Positions tab.

4. Use the pane on the Positions tab to select the position that you want to update.

5. Click to select the Wage subtab.

6. Use the fields titled Pay Schedule, Pay Grade, or Pay Step to assign a different pay option to the employee's position.

The pay change is saved on the position in the employee's file. No changes will be made to the pay schedule, pay grade, or pay step in the position that is saved in the Positions table.


Changing the hourly rate assigned to a position

Use Connect Payroll > Organization > Positions to edit the pay schedule, pay grade, or pay step. The changes that you make to the Position table will update all of the employee's who have been assigned to the position.
