Why can't I change the pay period frequency or employee type?

In version 2020.02, the pay period frequency and employee type boxes on the Wage tab were changed to restricted fields. The restricted field stops users from selecting a new pay period frequency or employee type without entering a password. The default setting will tie the pay period frequency to the default pay period frequency in the Organization table. Since most of the employees are 941 type employees, the default setting will select 941 as the employee type. You will need to unlock the restricted fields to change the pay period frequency or employee type.

Unlocking restricted fields

1. Open Connect Payroll > Employees > Modify Existing Employees.

2. Click the Positions tab.

3. Click the Wage tab.

Wage tab, restricted fields are locked

4. Click Restricted Fields

5. Change the pay period frequency and employee type.

Wage tab, restricted fields are unlocked
