Use the segments that you created in the previous step to define the asset mask. You can use punctuation characters to separate segments, for example: a period (.) or dash (-).
When a user enters an unformatted value the application will use the Asset Mask to create a formatted value. See the examples in the table.
Unformatted Value |
Asset Mask |
Formatted Value |
123456 |
AA-BB-CC |
12-34-56 |
1234562011 |
AA.BB.CCC.YYYY |
12.34.056.2011 |
123456 |
AAAAA.DD |
12345.06 |
Tip! You can enter a single letter for each segment and the application will fill in the correct number of letters for the mask. For example, Jane enters A-D-L-Y in the Asset Mask field. The application looks at the segment length for each segment. It uses the segment length to determine how many characters to enter in the Asset Mask. Since the Account is two-digits long the system fills in "AA" in the Asset Mask.
