How do I delete a primary asset?

You cannot delete a primary asset when related transactions exist. A related transaction is a transaction that is linked to another transaction to show how they are connected.

Examples of when you might delete a primary asset include:
  1. The asset record was created by mistake.
  2. A duplicate asset record exists for the same asset.
  3. Incorrect data was imported during a system conversion or file import.
  4. A test or training asset was created and is no longer needed.
  5. The wrong asset was set up as the primary asset instead of a sub-asset.
  6. The asset was entered with major errors that cannot be corrected through updates.
  7. An incomplete asset record was created but never finalized or used.
  8. The asset should have been combined with another asset through a merge process.

Deleting a primary asset is typically done only to correct errors, since deleting removes the asset record and its associated history from the system.
