How do I use Assembly Inquiry?

You would use Assembly Inquiry to quickly view and review detailed information about a specific backflow assembly. It allows staff to access important records such as assembly details, customer information, testing history, inspection status, notices, and compliance data from a single location. This inquiry feature is commonly used when researching assembly records, answering customer questions, verifying test activity, or troubleshooting compliance and maintenance issues.

Viewing assembly properties

Use Assembly Inquiry to look up the assembly properties.

Do this...

1. Open Assembly Inquiry.

You can click the Assembly Inquiry icon on the main menu, or click the Assembly Inquiry link on the sub-menus.

2. Enter an assembly ID, location number, or service address in the Assembly field on the Lookup bar. Press Enter.

3. Click the Assembly tab. Click on the subtabs to view the assembly properties.

Selecting a default view

You can select which tab is displayed when Assembly Inquiry is launched. For example, if you find yourself often switching to view the assembly test results, you can set up the Inquiry Options to choose the Testing tab as the default view.

Do this...

1. Open Assembly Inquiry.

2. Click Options (F12).

3. Select the tab that you wish to use as the default view from the Default Tab list.

4. If you want to show information in Assembly Inquiry for assemblies that have been removed, select the Include Removed Assemblies checkbox.

5. Click OK.

Adding/removing fields from the Detail tab

Use the Detail tab to select certain fields and show that information on the Detail tab. You can select fields that have not been included in other locations in Inquiry.

Do this...

1. Open Connect Backflow Management > Assembly Inquiry.

2. Enter an assembly number, location number, or service address in the Assembly field on the Lookup bar. Any assembly will work.

3. Navigate to the Detail tab. There are two Detail tabs in Assembly Inquiry. One is located in Assembly tab > Detail sub-tab and the other is found in Location tab > Detail sub-tab.

4.  Right-click anywhere on the tab and choose the Select Fields.

5. When the list of fields displays, select the fields that you wish to include here.

  • (All): Show all fields in the Assembly table. Entries are displayed in alphabetical order and can be reordered by clicking on the column heading.

  • (Custom): Select fields based on a selection criteria that you define. Select fields based on the options you select in the Custom Auto Filter. Clicking OK displays the filtered results. To clear the results, click the red X at the bottom of the screen.

  • (Blanks): Select only fields that do not have a value saved in them. Clicking the red X, at the bottom of the screen, will clear the results.

  • (Non-Blanks): Select only fields that have a value. Clicking the red X clears the results.

  • Listed Fields: Select from a list of fields that are commonly selected by users to display on the Detail tab. User-defined fields are found at the end of the list.

Showing assemblies by location

When you select the Location tab, the sub-tabs offer five ways to view information about the selected assembly.

Location: This option shows the service address, landlord, and active customer. It also lists any assemblies that are found at the service address.

Detail: This view is great if you need to display a field that includes location information that cannot be found on other tabs in Assembly Inquiry.

Service orders: If all you need to do is see the service orders requested at the service address, use the Service Orders tab. It lists all of the service orders that have been created for the selected location. If you need to see more information, double-clicking a service order will launch Service Order Inquiry.

Attachments: This feature allows you to view files that have been attached to the selected location.

Notes
Notes: This option saved additional notes and comments pertaining to the location.

Reviewing test results

Once you've found the assembly, you can see all of the test results that have been recorded for that assembly.

If you click on an action date, you will see the testing results summary, as well as the results for the initial test, repair, and final test.

Showing assembly activity

To show activity by assembly, just click on the Assembly Activity tab. If you want to see the test results for a testing activity, double-click on an assembly activity.

Showing notification activity

You can view a list of notices that have been sent to the selected assembly by clicking on the Notification Activity tab. Double-clicking a row in the Notification Activity grid will display the Notification Detail, which includes what customer received the notice along with any messages that were included on the notice.
