Owner

An owner is the individual, business, or organization that has legal ownership or responsibility for a business, property, or account within the system. Owner information is used to help manage records, track responsibilities, and support communication and reporting.

Owner records may include details such as names, addresses, contact information, and ownership relationships. This information helps support billing, tax reporting, account management, compliance, and audit activities within Business Tax Collection.


Adding a new owner

1. Open Connect Business Tax Collection > Organization > Owners.

2. Click New (CTRL+N).

3. Enter the Owner's information on the Owner tab.

4. Click the Businesses tab.

A business is a company or organization that buys and sells goods, services, or both goods and services. Use the options on the Businesses tab to add the businesses that belong to the owner to the owner's record. You can also edit or remove a business record from an owner's record.

5. Click Add a New Business.

The Search form appears.

6. Select the business that belong to the owner.

The selected business is highlighted.

7. Click OK.

The business name appears in the Businesses list on the Businesses tab.

8. Click on the Business 2, Mailing Address, and User-Defined subtabs to review the business's identification numbers, mailing address, and additional fields.

To edit the business's information, click Modify the Selected Business to open the business record.

9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 to add another business to the owner.

10. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The new owner record is saved.


Changing an owner

1. Open Connect Business Tax Collection > Organization > Owners.

2. Use the Lookup bar to enter an owner's name. Press Enter.

3. Now, edit the owner properties.

4. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The updated record is saved.


Deleting an owner

1. Open Connect Business Tax Collection > Organization > Owners.

You cannot delete an owner if related transactions exist.

2. Use the Lookup bar to enter an owner's name. Press Enter.

3. Click Delete (CTRL+D).

The owner is deleted.


Options

Birth date

Enter the date of the defendant's birth. Example: MM/DD/YYYY

Businesses

A business is a company or organization that buys and sells goods, services, or both goods and services. Use the options on the Businesses tab to add the businesses that belong to the owner to the owner's record. You can also edit or remove a business record from an owner's record.

Contact information

The business's contact information is the address, telephone number, and email address.

Driver license number

A driver license is an official document that states that a person may operate a motorized vehicle. A driver license number is a unique number that is assigned to the driver license.

Driver license state

The state is the state issuing the driver license.

Name

A name is a word or phrase that constitutes the distinctive designation of a person.

Position

A position is the place, situation, or standing of an individual within an organization.

Social Security number

A Social Security number is a unique number assigned to each individual that can work legally in the United States.

What is the Social Security number?

Use the Social Security Number field to enter a nine-digit number. Do not key dashes. Example: 555555555
