How do I change the status of a case when I assign a code?

You would change the status of a case when you assign a code to automatically update the case to the appropriate stage in the court process based on the action being performed. Certain action codes, disposition codes, or workflow codes may trigger status changes that reflect updated case activity, such as pending review, compliance monitoring, warrant issued, closed, or completed.

Courts use status changes tied to codes to automate workflows, improve case tracking, reduce manual updates, and ensure case records accurately reflect current processing and activity within the court system.

Setting up a code to change the case status

1. Open Connect Court Management > Organization > Codes.

2. Look up a code.

3. Find the section titled Status Settings on the Code tab.

4. Use the Case Status menu to select the case status to assign to the case.

5. Click Save (CTRL+S).

When this code is selected, Connect will assign the selected case status to the case.
