I made changes to a pay code, but the changes don't show up in employees who use the pay code. How do I fix this?

Issue

I'm making changes to a pay code in Organization. But the changes that I have made aren't showing up in at the employee level even though the changes to the pay code have been saved. I need the change to be applied to the employee records. How do I fix this?

Explanation

Make sure all of the views (tabs) are closed before you make changes to the pay code. When there are additional tabs open, or another user is logged into the Payroll application, the changes that have been made to a pay code may not be applied to the employee records that are being used by other routines.

In most cases, making changes to a pay code while using Modify Existing Employees or Employee Inquiry will cause this issue where the updated pay code will be pushed to some employees but not others. You can tell if you have been working with old data (a view that has not been updated with the latest information) when the the pay code is saved with the udpated information and the Employee Pay Code Update window is not displayed.

Solution

To fix this error,

  • ask users to exit the Payroll application.

  • on your computer, close all views (tabs) before you open Organization > Pay Codes.

  • in Modify Existing Employees, use Filter to verify the changes to the pay code have been pushed to the employee pay code.
