Issue
I'm printing my 941 quarterly report and the pay code transaction report.
Explanation
A small difference, less than a dollar, may be caused by rounding amounts before or after an amount is calculated.
A large difference is significant, larger than $5 dollars, needs further investigation.
The acceptable difference depends on your organization a size. A small organization, for example, less than 20 employees may have a rounding difference of a few pennies each quarter. While a large organization, for example, with 300 employees, may have a rounding difference that equals one or two dollars each quarter. The line 7 on the 941 report will show the rounding difference as an adjustment.
Solution
Use the 941 report and the pay code transaction report to track down the difference in the calculated amount.
Check for
A pay code with a start date or end date that isn't supposed to be there.
A pay code type is set to do not calculate.
An employee is not allocated as a 941 type employee.
