What is the Amount/Rate/Percent type?

Payroll can calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on:

  • Amount

  • Calculation

  • Do Not Calculate

  • Hourly

  • Percent of Amount

  • Rate per Hour

  • Rate per Unit

  • Salary

 

Amount

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on an amount. For example, a pay code that pays an amount to an employee to cover a health insurance premium.  

Calculation

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on a calculation.

Do Not Calculate

Do not calculate the employer's portion of the pay code. For example, a pay code that calculates a regular pay. The pay code only calculates an amount on the employee's portion of the pay code.

Hourly

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on an amount.

Percent of Amount

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on a percent of an amount. For example, a pay code that calculates an employer contribution to fund a 401k plan. The pay code multiplies an amount by a percentage to calculate the contribution amount.

Rate per Hour

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on the assigned rate per hour. The Rate per Hour is not the same as Hourly. The Rate per Hour uses the assigned rate in the pay code instead of using the hourly rate assigned to an employer.

Rate per Unit

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on the assigned rate per unit. The pay code will use the assigned rate per unit to calculate an amount.  

Salary

Calculate the employer's portion of the pay code based on salary.
