How do I manage rate levels on a rate?

When a tiered rate structure exists, the rate levels will help you calculate the amount based on a billing quantity. The quantity represents the amount that will be billed for each level. When the level type is a rate, the quantity will be multiplied by the amount that is stored in the Rate/Amount field. When the level type is an amount, the amount stored in the Rate/Amount field will be billed for each quantity level that applies.

Setting up a rate level

These instructions will show you how to set up a rate level. Repeat the steps to set up each rate level. You can set up to 20 rate levels for each rate.

Do this...

1. Open Connect Utility Management > Organization > Rates.

2. Find the Rate Levels section.

Rates, Rate levels

3. Use Quantity box to enter a number.

The quantity stores the amount that will calculate for the specified level. The system uses the value in the Quantity field to calculate a range. In the example above, the system will use the Quantity field to set the ending value. For Level 1, the system uses zero to 60; Level 2 is 61 to 140; Level 3 is 141 to 99999999999.

4. Use the Rate/Amount box to enter a rate or amount.

The rate/amount stores the value the system will use to bill for the quantity.

5. Use the Type box to select the type to assign to the value in the Rate/Amount box.

What kind of value is in the Rate/Amount box?

  • If the value in the Rate/Amount box is a rate, select Rate. The rate level will multiply the quantity by the rate.

  • If the value in the Rate/Amount box is an amount, select Amount. The rate level will multiple the quantity by the amount.Example:  If the customer's quantity is 55 then, using the example above, the system will bill the amount of the 0.11.
