How do I use ascending block rate on a rate?

Use an ascending block rate structure for billing a service, such as water. As ascending block rate is a rate structure where the unit price of each succeeding block of usage is charged at a higher unit rate than the previous block. The ascending block rate is designed to promote conservation, for example, for an area with limited water supplies.

Example: This graph shows how an ascending block rate bills $1 for the first 1,000 gallons, $2 for the next 2,000 - 3,000 gallons, $3 for the next 4,000 - 5,000 gallons, and $4 for 6,000 or more gallons.

The Water Conservation module can be added to the Utility Management application to calculate and bill water based on a water budget or allowance and the ascending block rate structure.
