Can I choose which bills to pay first?

Cash Receipting can allocate payments based on the payment due date, or you can choose which bills you want to pay first.

Why it's important

Prioritize based on due dates or penalties. Some bills may carry late fees, interest charges, or penalties if not paid on time. Choosing which bills to pay first helps avoid unnecessary costs and maintain good standing with vendors or internal departments.
Applying payments strategically. Customers may want payments applied to specific invoices (for example, the oldest first, most critical, or disputed bills paid last). This allows for custom allocation of funds.
Avoiding misapplication of funds. Payments may be applied automatically or incorrectly, which may create confusion and complicate audits and dispute resolution.

1. Open Enter Payments.

2. Click to select the button titled Manual Allocation Mode (SHIFT+F11).

3. If the amount paid is less than the total billed amount,

Cash Receipting will prompt you to apply the unapplied amount or save the applied amount.
