How do I add a print profile?

Set up and save the printer and printing options that you usually use to print a report. The next time you print the report, choose the print profile instead of setting up the printer and print options again.

Adding a print profile

1. Open System Management > Printers> Setup/Modify Print Profiles.

2. Click New (CTRL+N).

3. Enter the Print Profile.

This is a word or phrase that describes the character or features of the print profile.

Example: Print to HP Printer, Print to File, Export

4. Select the User ID.

The User ID is the abbreviated name assigned to a user. Use the User ID drop-down list to select your user ID. The User ID links the print profile to a specific user profile. When the user logs into Connect the application will display the print profiles associated with the User ID.

5. Select the Share this Profile With Other Users option.

Use this option to make the print profile available for other users to select when they print reports.

Do you want to share the print profile with other users?

  • Yes, share the print profile with other users. Click to select Share this Profile With Other Users. When other users log into Connect, this print profile will be displayed as an option.

  • No, this print profile is only for my use. Click to deselect Share this Profile With Other Users. Skip to step 7. This print profile will not be displayed as an option for other users to select.

6. Set up the Allow Other Users to Modify this Profile checkbox.

This option allows you to allow other users to edit the print profile.

If you are sharing the print profile with other users, do you want to allow other users to make changes to the print profile?

  • Yes, other users can update the print profile properties. Click to select Allow Other Users to Modify this Profile. Other users can edit the printer name, paper source, output selection, and so on.

  • No, restrict other users from updating the print profile properties. Click to deselect Allow Other Users to Modify this Profile. Other users can see the print profile but they cannot make any changes.

7. Select the Output Option.

The output option is format the system will use to create the print job. You have three options: Print, Save As, and Export. Use Print to print to a printer. Use Save As to save the print job as a file such as  a PDF. Or use Export to save the print job as a file that can be opened in another application.

For more information, click here to display the Print Settings help topic.

8. If you selected Print, set up the options on the Print Profile tab.

9. If you selected Save As, set up the options on the Save As/Export tab.

10. If you selected Export, set up the options on the Save As/Export tab.

11. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The print profile has been set up.
