How do I insert the date, time, or count in a file name?

When you create an export file, you can add a variable to the file name to insert the date, time, or count in the file name. Using the date, time, or count will ensure the file name is a unique file name and ensure the new export file does not accidentally replace an existing export file.

For example, Joe sets up an export file using the file name "Deposit Register." He adds the variables to insert the date, time, and counter. When he saves the export file, Connect formats the file name as "Deposit Register 04/02/2015 12:12 1".

Inserting the date, time, or counter in a file name

1. Enter the file name.

3. Click on the position in the file name field where you want to insert the variable.

2. Use the menu  button at the end of the File Name field.

The variable menu displays.

4. Click to select a variable from the list.

The variable is inserted in the file name. You can insert one or more variables.
