How do I enter differential pay?

Employers can pay an employee a different wage to compensate them for doing another assignment that may be more difficult or hazardous than their normal job. For example,

  • a shift premium is one example of a pay differential that's paid to an employee for taking a third shift.

  • hazard pay to compensate an employee for working under difficult or hazardous conditions.

Adding a pay differential to a time entry will update the hours. If the pay differential is linked to a different pay code, a separate line will be added to the employee check information that will show up on the pay check in the Payroll application. The payroll check will combine the hours by pay code.
