Warning: Vendor number ### exceeds the maximum vendor number allowed

Issue

When you run the Renumber Vendors routine, the Cannot Run Process dialog box displays a warning message: Vendor number ######## exceeds the maximum vendor number allowed. The vendor number cannot exceed 999999999. No changes were made.

Solution

Check if the last vendor number that's assigned to the vendors being renumbered is larger than 999,999,999.

To fix this issue,

  • change the new beginning vendor number to a different number, or

  • choose a smaller number for the increment by value.
