How do I change an asset description or dates?

Changing an asset description

You might change an asset description to correct errors, add more detail, or make the asset easier to identify and track. Clear, accurate descriptions help improve reporting, inventory management, audits, and maintenance by ensuring staff can quickly recognize the correct asset.

Do this...

1. Open Connect Asset Management > Assets > Modify Existing Assets.

2. Look up an asset.

3. Highlight the asset description and then replace it with the new asset description.

 

 

4. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The asset description is updated and saved.

 

Changing asset dates

You might change asset dates to correct errors or ensure depreciation and financial reporting are accurate. Updating dates such as the acquisition date or in-service date helps ensure the asset is recorded in the correct accounting period and depreciated at the proper time.

Do this...

1. Open Connect Asset Management > Assets > Modify Existing Assets.

2. Look up an asset.

3. Highlight the asset date and then replace it with the new asset date.

 

4. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The asset description is updated and saved.

 

Changing asset amounts

You should not use Modify Existing Assets to change asset amounts. If you need to change asset amounts, you can use Adjust Assets or Enter Manual Transactions. For example, use Adjust Assets to change the acquisition amount.
