Error: Medicare pay code rate

Issue

An employee has an amount deducted for Medicare and the amount does not match the calculated amount. The difference between the two amounts is more than $1.

Explanation

This error may occur when the employee pay code for Medicare is not set up correctly or Medicare was calculated manually.

Solution

To fix this error,

  • review the employee pay code settings for Medicare. (Modify Existing Employees > Pay Codes tab)

  • if Medicare was calculated manually, check the amount deducted for Medicare for the employee.

  • if the employee shows zero (0) as the calculated amount, then the amount is subject to Medicare but Medicare was not calculated.
