Error: Social Security pay code rate

Issue

An employee has an amount deducted for Social Security and the amount does not match the calculated amount. The difference between the two amounts is more than $1.

Explanation

This error may occur when the employee pay code for Social Security is not set up correctly or Social Security is calculated manually for a manual check.

Solution

To fix this error,

  • review the employee pay code settings for Social Security. (Modify Existing Employees > Pay Codes tab)

  • if Social Security was calculated manually, check the amount deducted for Social Security for the employee.

  • if the employee shows zero (0) as the calculated amount, then the amount is subject to Social Security but Social Security was not calculated.
