Error: Termination date in current period

Issue

The employee has a termination date that falls within the current pay period.

Explanation

A paycheck is not created when all of the following conditions are met:
  1. The employee's termination date is on or before the pay period end date.
  2. The employee has payroll exceptions or transactions for the pay period.
  3. The system cannot determine whether the termination date occurred before the pay period begin date or before the pay period end date because no option was selected when prompted.

When these conditions exist, the system displays a dialog box asking you to identify how the termination date relates to the pay period before payroll processing can continue.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, choose one of the following options:

Option 1: Identify the Termination Date

When the dialog box appears, indicate whether the employee's termination date occurred:
  1. Before the pay period begin date, or
  2. Before the pay period end date.

After making a selection, continue payroll processing.

Option 2: Update the Termination Date

If the termination date is incorrect, update the employee record so that the termination date occurs after the pay period end date. Then reprocess payroll.
