How do I add a taxing entity?

Add a Taxing Entity to establish an organization or jurisdiction that receives a portion of collected property tax revenues. Taxing entities typically include counties, cities, school districts, special service districts, and other governmental organizations that levy taxes. Setting up taxing entities ensures tax calculations, revenue distributions, reporting, and financial records accurately reflect the organizations entitled to receive tax funds.

Examples:

  • Add a new school district that will receive property tax revenue.
  • Create a taxing entity for a newly formed special service district.
  • Set up a city or county entity to participate in tax revenue distributions.
  • Add a taxing entity after changes in local government structure or taxing authority.
  • Establish a new entity before calculating levies, mill rates, and tax distributions.

By adding taxing entities, you help ensure property tax revenues are allocated correctly, support accurate tax calculations, and maintain complete records of all organizations that receive tax funding.
