Calculate property tax for a single real property to determine the exact amount of tax owed for a specific parcel based on its assessed value, exemptions, tax rates, and taxing district information. Calculating taxes for an individual property allows you to verify tax amounts, review the impact of assessment changes, and ensure the property's tax liability is accurate before billing or making adjustments.
Examples:
- Calculate taxes for a newly assessed property before generating a tax bill.
- Verify the tax amount after changing a property's assessed value or exemption.
- Determine the impact of a property value appeal on the tax owed.
- Review taxes for a single parcel in response to a property owner's inquiry.
- Confirm tax calculations before processing adjustments, abatements, or corrections.
By calculating property tax for a single real property, you can validate tax amounts, resolve questions about a specific parcel, and ensure accurate billing and account management.
In the 2022.02 update, the selection criteria includes the Taxing Entity Name column. You can use the taxing entity name to set up the Calculate Real Property Taxes routine to calculate real property tax for a single real property.
Adding columns to selection criteria
These instructions show you how to add the Taxing Entity Name column to the selection criteria but you can use them to add any column to the selection criteria.
Use the selection criteria to filter by parcel ID or taxing entity name. Using the selection criteria allows you to calculate real property tax for one real property instead of calculating real property tax for all real properties. This option is helpful if your organization bills some entities at a different time of the year.
Do this...
1. Open Connect Property Tax Collection > Real Properties > Calculate Real Property Taxes.
2. In the Selection Criteria, double-click the Column heading.
3. Use the Selection window to move the Taxing Entity Name column to the Selected Criteria Fields list.
4. Click OK.
Changing the column value to filter data
Set up the column to filter for a specific value.
Do this...
1. Double-click All in the Value column.
2. Use the Enter Values window to enter a taxing district name.
3. Click OK.
