Use Load Databases to restore a backup copy of your Caselle databases. Backup copies are usually stored to a local drive or, in some cases, may be retrieved from the Caselle Support Portal when you work with Caselle Support to resolve a database issue.
Warning! Running this routine will overwrite the existing databases with the backup copy. Be careful to select only the databases that you want to restore. If you're not sure, call Caselle support at (800) 243-8275 for assistance.
1. Open Connect System Management > System Tools > Load Databases.
2. Select the SQL Server to load the backup copy to.
Use the server list to locate the SQL server with the Caselle databases that you want to restore. This field will display the SQL Server that you are currently using to run Connect as the default SQL server.
Load data to server
Which SQL Server do you want to use?
Restore the backup copy to the same SQL Server that's running Connect now. That's perfect. This is the default setting. Go to the next step.
Restore the backup copy to another SQL Server. Use the Load Data to Server menu to select a SQL Server. You may need to click the Refresh button, located at the end of the Load Data to Server field, to update the server list.
3. Select the file type to load.
This routine can load a database from a file saved on your computer or download a backup copy from the Caselle Cloud on the Caselle Support Portal.
Where is the backup copy located?
Use the backup copy saved on my computer. Use the Load menu to select File. Next, enter the file path and file name of the backup copy in the File Name field. You can Browse to the file location. After you enter the file name, the contents of the compressed file (.zip) will be displayed in the section titled File Contents.
Load and File Name
Download the backup copy from the Caselle Cloud on the Caselle Support Portal. Use the Load menu to select Cloud . Next, use the File Name menu to select the backup copy that you want to restore from the list of files saved for your organization on the Caselle Support Portal.
Load from Cloud and File Name
4. Rename the backup copy.
If you have administrative rights, you will have the option of renaming the restored databases [databasename].
Important! Renaming the databases will create a copy of the databases with a different name. Connect will only replace the existing database with the database on the backup copy if the existing database and the backup database share the same database name. Rename a database when you want to create a copy and keep the existing databases. Do not rename a database when you want to replace the existing databases with the databases from the backup copy.
Rename As
Do you want to rename the database?
Yes, I want to create a copy of the backup databases. I do not want to replace the existing databases. Use the Rename As field to enter a database name. Connect will use the new database name to load the databases stored on the backup copy to the selected SQL Server.
No, I want to replace the existing databases with the backup databases. Leave the Rename As field blank. Connect will replace the existing databases with the databases from the backup copy.
5. Click GO (CTRL+G).
Connect loads the databases from the backup file to the SQL Server. If the database from the backup file has the same name as an existing database, Connect will ask you if you want to keep the existing database or replace it.
