Issue tax certificates to collect unpaid amounts.
When a utility account has an unpaid delinquent balance, the city can issue a tax certificate to collect the unpaid amount with the property tax that is assessed on real property owned by the customer.
1. Open Connect Utility Management > Organization > Organization.
2. Click to select the Direct Pay tab.
3. Enter the ID Number.
This is the ID Number the organization will use to collect certification balances. You might receive from the county or certifying entity that is required on the certification file or certification report.
4. Enter the Delinquent Minimum Balance.
This is the minimum amount for tax certification. When Utility Management creates tax certification records, the tax certification settings can ignore the minimum balance, check the minimum balance against the delinquent balance by service, check the minimum balance against the total delinquent balance, check the minimum balance against the prior account balance, or check the minimum balance against the current account balance.
5. Enter the Fee Amount and Rate.
This is the fee billed to create tax certifications. Calculating tax certifications will add the fee to the certified customer balance. You can enter an amount, rate, or both an amount and rate. See the section titled Adding a Tax Certification Fee or Rate.
6. Click Save (CTRL+S).
The tax certification settings are set up and saved.
Add a fee to a customer's tax certification balance. The fee can be an amount, rate, or an amount and rate.
Do this...
1. Open Connect Utility Management > Organization > Organization.
2. Click to select the Certification tab.
3. Enter the Amount.
Calculating tax certifications will add the amount to the certified customer balance. If you do not want to bill an amount, enter zero.
Fee = Certified Amount + Amount
4. Enter the Rate.
Calculating tax certifications will multiple the certified amount times the rate and then add the amount to the certified amount. If you do not want to bill a rate, enter zero.
Fee = Certified Amount x Rate
5. Click Save (CTRL+S).
When you create tax certifications, the routine will add the amount to the amount being certified.
