I'm final closing a job and there's a warning message that says, "The following jobs have future costs that will not be included. Would you like to continue?" What does it mean and how can I fix it?
Explanation
This warning helps you know the job has anticipated or forecasted expenses that is expected to be incurred on a project but has not yet been recorded in the Project Accounting application.
Here are some examples of future job costs:
Committed costs. Expenses tied to purchase orders, contracts, or agreements that have been issued but not yet billed or paid.
Planned labor costs. Expected costs for workk hours that will be incurred in the future.
Pending material costs. Materials ordered but not yet recevied or invoiced.
Subcontractor costs. Forecasted payments for subcontracted work still in progress.
Overhead allocations. Future indirect costs, such as administrative expenses that will be distributed to the project.
Solution
You can final close a job with future costs, but it is not recommended. Final closing a job will not allow any changes to add future job costs to the project.
