How do I add an action code?

Backflow Management uses action codes to record activity when assembly is installed, replaced, removed, or tested.

The action code that is selected will show the entry form that's tied to it. For example, when Joe selects the action code for installing an assembly the entry form for installing an assembly will be displayed. The entry form will include the basic fields for installing an assembly and any extra fields that have been added.

You will need to set up at least one action code for installing, replacing, removing, and testing an assembly. You can set up more than one action code for each activity type.

Adding an action code

1. Open Connect Backflow Management > Organization > Action Codes.

2. Click New (CTRL+N).

3. Enter the following information.

Action code
Enter an action code name. Example: Install Assembly

Description
Enter a description. Example: Install Assembly

 Abbreviation 1
Enter an abbreviation for the action code (up to 7 characters). When space is limited on a report, Connect will use the abbreviation. Example: Install

 Abbreviation 2
Enter a shorter abbreviation for the action code (up to 3 characters). When there isn't enough space to use seven characters, the report will use the three character abbreviation. Example: INS

Type
Select the action code type. There are four types: Install Assembly, Remove Assembly, Replace Assembly, and Test Assembly.

Show assembly activity tied to this action code in Inquiry
You can show or hide transactions in Customer Inquiry and Assembly Inquiry. Mark this checkbox to show transactions that are tied to this action code. To hide transactions, remove the checkmark from the checkbox.

4. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The action code is saved. If you would like to collect additional information on the entry form, set up the options on the Assembly Activity tab. See How do I add additional fields?
