Click Options (F12) to change the default settings that Connect will use to import citations from an import file. These settings allow you to set the default settings, codes, and appointments; preferences for identifying records that belong to an existing defendant; and set up user-defined fields for values that do not map to an existing field.
Use the citation number from the import file as the case number.
Allow Connect to import a citation number that is already assigned to a case. This checkbox will not be available when you are using the citation number as the case number.
Set the offense code to the violation code that is set on the case in the import file. This option will use the first matching violation code as the offense code. If there are multiple violation codes, the issue will be noted on the printed report.
Set the default room to assign to appointments.
Choose the default code to assign to appointments. Use this option to determine which code to use when the citation type does not include a default offense code or the default offense code does not have the Schedule Appointment code type selected.
Select the schedule type to assign to appointments that will be imported from the import file.
Connect can search the import file for defendants that may be set up and saved in the defendant table. You can search for defendants with matching Social Security numbers and you can search for defendants who have the same last name and date of birth.
Compare the Social Security numbers in the import file to the Social Security numbers in the defendant table. This option will search for an exact match.
Search the import file for defendants who share a last name and date of birth with a defendant in the defendant table. This option will search for a name that starts with the same characters of the defendant's last name. You can choose how many characters to match.
If the import file is an XML file and it includes fields that you would like to include in the case, you can link an existing user-defined field to a value in the XML file.
To add a user-defined field to the list, open Organization > Organization and select the User-defined tab. The Import Citations view will include user-defined fields that have been created for the Case, Defendant, and Transaction tables.
