How do I verify the State ID number? (Government Reporting)

Check the State ID number in the Government Reporting application. Connect will use the State ID number to print W-2s and create the electronic W-2 file.

 

Verifying the State ID number

1. Open Connect Payroll > Government Reporting > Organization.

2. Click the State tab.

3. Check the number in the State ID Number box.

Is the State ID number correct?

  • Yes, the State ID number is correct. You're done.

  • No, the State ID number is not correct. If the information is not correct, make your changes to the State Withholding Tax (77-00) pay code in the Payroll application. (To learn how to look up the State pay code and where the State ID number is located, see the help topic titled Second, Verify the State Tax ID.) Next, return to Step 6b. Convert year-end tax information in the Payroll Year-end Checklist.

 

Important! Updated information in the Payroll application will not be updated in the Government Reporting application unless you run Convert Year-end Tax Information. Connect uses the information in the Government Reporting application to print W-2s and create the electronic W-2 file.

 

Fixing the State ID number

If the State ID number is not correct, make your changes to the State Withholding Tax (76-00) pay code in the Payroll application. (To learn how to look up the State pay code and where the State ID number is located, see the help topic titled Second, Verify the State Tax ID.) Next, run Convert Year-end Tax Information to update the State ID in Government Reporting.
