How do I set up a new owner? (Owners)

Add a new owner for real or personal property. You can use the Setup New Owners view to link the new owner to a real property or personal property or you can add a new owner and then use Modify Real Properties or Modify Personal Properties to link the new owner to a property.

An owner record stores the following information:
  • Owner's name and contact information, including Social Security number, birth date, driver license number and state

  • Default settings for primary owner, sending statements, and sending notices

  • Properties tied to the owner

Use Owners to complete these tasks:
  • Daily entry of billings, payments, and write-offs.

Setting up a new owner

1. Open Connect Property Tax Collection > Owners > Setup New Owners.

2. Click New (CTRL+N).

3. Fill in the owner's contact information.

If the owner has a master contact record, use the Master Contact box to link the owner record to it.

You can link it to an existing master contact or you can create a new master contact record for the new owner.

4. Set up the default options.

5. Add real properties or personal properties (Optional).

If you have set up the real property or personal property in Connect Property Tax Collection, you can add the property to the owner now. If you need to set up the real property or personal property record, skip this step. You can complete it later or you can use Modify Existing Real Property or Modify Existing Personal Property to link the property to the property owner.

6. Click Save (CTRL+S).

The new owner is saved.
