How do I uninstall Connect Online Web Service (COWS)?

Issue

As part of the process of migrating from Caselle Connect to Caselle Cloud, I need to uninstall Connect Online Web Service. How do I do that?

Explanation

If you're running Caselle Cloud, you don't want Connect Online Web Service (COWS) running on your computer.

Here's why... Running Connect Online Web Service on your computer may cause a conflict between the message broker controlling communication and Caselle Hosted. The message broker controlling communication manages the exchange of information between Connect Online Web Service and your computer. Running Caselle Hosted will also perform this task for you. If you are running both Connect Online Web Service AND Caselle Hosted on the same computer (or device), it could cause issues with data retrieval and storage (for example, saving data to the computer instead of the Caselle Cloud).

Solution

Follow these instructions to uninstall Connect Online Web Service (COWS) from each computer that will be used to run Caselle Hosted. You will need administrator rights to complete this task.

1. Open Windows Start

2. Type run cmd.

Windows Start - Search

3. Select Run as administrator.

Windows Start - Command Prompt

4. Click Yes to allow the Command Prompt application to make changes to your device.

5. Enter sc delete CaselleWebService$<subdomain>

Replace <subdomain> with the part of the URL that comes before the main domain name (<subdomain>.CaselleConnect.com). For example, if the url is anycity.caselleconnect.com, then anycity is the subdomain (anycity.caselle.connect.com).

Administrator: Command Prompt

6. Press Enter.

Connect Online Web Service is deleted.
