Error: The communication with Connect Online Web Service (COWS) timed out

Issue

I'm trying to sign in, but this error message keeps displaying. It says, "The communication with the Connect Online Web Service (COWS) timed out." Entering my username and password doesn't work. How do I fix it? 

 

 

Explanation

Connect Online uses the Connect Online Web Service (COWS), an essential program that runs in the background to allow Connect Online to use Connect to display and update information.  

Solution

Start troubleshooting with these options: 

• Restart the Connect Online Web Service (COWS). [More]
