Error: The GL account for the pay code on employee is invalid

Issue

This error message displays when there's an employee who is using an invalid GL account on a benefit pay code.

Solution

To fix the error, you will need to do some troubleshooting to find out where the invalid GL account is located in the Payroll application and then replace it with a valid GL account.

(1) Verify the GL account in the employee pay code and the employee position allocations.

Look for the invalid GL account in the employee pay code and employee position allocations. You'll find both of these things in Modify Existing Employees. The employee pay codes are on the Pay Codes tab. And the employee position allocations are on the Positions tab > Allocations tab.

(2) Verify the General Ledger interface is set up correctly.

The General Ledger interface is set up on the Interfaces tab in Organization (Organization > Organization). Make sure the interface, update method, and accounts are set up correctly for your organization.

(3) Make sure the account has been set up in the General Ledger.

If you're sure the GL account is valid, try checking if the account is set up as an account in the General Ledger application. You can use Account Inquiry (Connect General Ledger > Account Inquiry) to look up the invalid account number.
