How do I delete or move meter activity?

Meter activity includes actions to install, remove, or replace a meter. Use Delete Meter Activity to remove meter activity from a cycle or period. Use Move Meter Activity to transfer meter activity from one cycle or period to a different cycle or period.


Step 1: Back up the database

Before proceeding, back up the current files. Always make a back up of the database BEFORE running routines that modify or delete transactions. See the help topic titled How do I back up the database?

 

Step 2: Delete/move meter activity

Run this routine to remove meter activity from a cycle or period

Do this...

1. Open Connect Utility Management > Organization > Delete/Move Meter Activity.

2. What do you want to do?

  • I want to remove meter activity from a cycle or period.

  • I want to transfer meter activity from one cycle or period to a different cycle or period.

3. Click GO (CTRL+G).

The meter activity is deleted/moved.

 



Action codes

An Action Code is a description a user can assign to a transaction that occurs in the Utility Management program. If the Utility Management Service Orders interface is enabled, you can also delete/move action codes for service orders.

Which action codes do you wish to include?
  • I want to select a single action code. Click to select it. The selected item is highlighted.

  • I want to select more than one action code. Press and hold CTRL, and then click to select each action code.

Beginning/ending date

Use the Beginning/Ending Date to define the date range. Only transactions with transaction dates that occur within the date range will be included. Use the Beginning Date field to enter the first date in the date range. Then, use the Ending Date field to enter the last date in the date range.

What is the first date in the date range?

Use the Beginning Date field to enter MM/DD/YYYY.

What is the last date in the date range?

Use the Ending Date field to enter MM/DD/YYYY.

Cycle

A cycle is an interval of time during which utilities are billed.

Are you using cycles?
  • Yes, I am using cycles. Select a cycle name from the Cycle field. The routine will apply deposits/interest to the selected cycle.

  • No, I am not using cycles. Continue to the next step.

Delete meter activity

Meter activity includes actions to install, remove, or replace a meter. Use Delete Meter Activity to remove the meter activity from the database. There is no undo for this action.

District

A district is an area, region, or section for billing utilities.

Are you using districts?
  • Yes, I am using districts. Select a district name from the District field. The routine will apply deposits/interest to the selected district.

  • No, I am not using districts. Continue to the next step.

Groups

A group is a category for tracking customers with similar characteristics, features, or functions. You can use a group to track and report transactions.

What do you want to do?
  • I want to include all groups. Press and hold CTRL, continue holding the CTRL button and click to each group in the list.

  • I want to select the groups to include. Press and hold CTRL, continue holding the CTRL button and click to the group, or groups,) to include in the routine.  

Move meter activity

Use Move Meter Activity to transfer transactions for meter activity from one period or cycle to a different period or cycle.

Move to

When the option to Move Meter Activity is selected, the Move To field is available. Use this field to choose the destination where the meter activity will be copied to.

Selection criteria

In Caselle, the Selection Criteria allows you to choose which information to include in the routine.

Services

Since readings are only recorded for metered services, the Service list displays the services that use a meter to record usage.

What do you want to do?
  • I want to delete retired meters for a service. Click to select a service name. The selected item is highlighted.

  • I want to delete retired meters for more than one service. Press and hold CTRL, now click to select each service.
