What is a System Management password?

Connect uses application-specific passwords to protect programs and routines in System Management from unauthorized access. The System Management passwords function as master passwords in Connect. Using a System Management password will override the Control password, Authorization password, or Field Access password in a Connect application, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Receipting, General Ledger, Payroll, Utility Management, and all of the other applications in the Connect family.

The System Management passwords will not override a user password that a user uses to log in to Connect or Connect Online.

There are three types of System Management passwords:

  • Control Password: Permits a user to access programs and routines in an application. You can also use the Control Password instead of the Authorization or Field Access Password.

  • Authorization Password: Permits a user to access routines within an application that modify transactions.

  • Field Access Password: Permits a user to access locked fields. A locked field will only display the field's contents. Changes cannot be made unless the field is unlocked.
